Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc. in Alamosa, Colorado, is seeking a Groundman 1st Year to support electric distribution work at the Alamosa Service Center. You will assist in installing and removing conductors, rigging, and operating equipment.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Class A CDL, safety focus, and the ability to travel. The starting base pay is $38.79 to $43.58 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install and remove overhead/underground conductors.
• Rigging for crane applications.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

We anticipate the need for aGroundman1st Yearthat will be located at the Alamosa Service Center in Alamosa, Colorado. As aGroundmanyou will have the opportunity toutilizeyour skills to work on electric distribution line circuits including setting and removing poles and towers and installing and removing conductor.

Responsibilities

• Installing and removing overhead and undergroundconductors
• Rigging of all varieties for use with crane applications
• Driving and operation ofnumerouscommercial vehicles
• Helicopteruseswith construction
• Using specialized equipment like ATV's and SNOW CAT's
• Other duties as assigned

Competencies

• Accustomed to many varieties of specialized line construction equipment and vehicles
• Computer Skills for learning and compliance training
• Knowledge of hand and power tools and the safety of their use
• Understanding how to work with ropes/knots and how to use them
• Understanding and familiarity of DOT regulations

*Please note that this position will require someout of towntravel to different Xcel Energy Colorado territories.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Work experience operating construction equipment
• Possess class A CommercialDriver'sLicense (CDL)
• Must have passed or successfullypassthe EEI Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) selection test.
• High Commitment to Safety Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Must have been in excellent physical condition and be able to handle a 90lbjackhammer
• Highly developed mechanical ability
• Must be able to respond toafterhourscall out, both weekends and evenings
• Must live within 40 miles or 40 minutes of the Alamosa Service Center

EEI Testing

1. If your assessment results and application best meet the qualifications for the position, you will be invited to take the EEI Test via email.
2. Sign up for the test using the link in email invitation.
3. After signing up, you will receive a confirmation email to take the test. You can prepare for the test using the study information sent to you.
4. The test results will be sent via email within 2 weeks of completing the test.
5. The applications of successful candidates will be sent to the hiring leader for review.
