Job summary

The City of Idaho Falls is seeking Temporary Groundman/Laborers to support Idaho Falls Power and Idaho Falls Fiber. You will perform supervised duties in construction, maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical distribution and fiber optic systems, including operating heavy equipment and assisting with trenching and pulling wire.

Candidate must have a High School diploma or GED, capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, and pass pre-employment drug, physical, and background checks.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED with relevant heavy equipment/line work experience OR completion of line worker apprenticeship/technical program.
• Knowledge of safety practices and electricity properties; OSHA/NESC/APPA knowledge.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test, physical, and background check; Idaho Class A CDL required; Pole Top Rescue preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform supervised Groundman duties in construction, maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical distribution, service lines, and fiber optic cable.
• Operate heavy equipment (backhoe, digger-derrick, puller tensioners) and assist with trenching and pulling wire.
• Maintain safety, perform traffic control for crew/public safety, and participate in job briefings.
