Job summary

Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital is seeking a Line Worker to construct and maintain electric power lines, substations and street lighting in Holland, MI. This role includes installing meters, poles, wires and transformers, plus assisted emergency response and leadership of apprentices.

The candidate should have at least three years of construction experience, climb poles, and hold a valid Michigan CDL. Residency within 20 miles of the municipal boundary is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years’ experience in construction work.
• Ability to climb poles and work at heights with energized wires.
• Residency within 20 miles of municipal boundary.
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License with CDL.
• WorkKeys Workplace Documents – 4, Graphic Literacy – 4, Workplace Observation – 3.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain and repair power lines for street lighting, power and light distribution and other purposes.
• Install high voltage metering equipment.
• Install poles, cross arms, streetlights, wires, transformers, and regulators.
• Participate in stand by schedule and assist during emergencies.
• Use ladders, ropes, wrenches and related Line Worker tools.
• Make service connections, hang transformers, dig holes for poles and anchors.
• Operate equipment in electrical distribution systems and perform bucket and pole top rescue.
• Install street lighting fixtures; provide leadership to Apprentices.
