Job summary

Pacific Gas and Electric Company is seeking an Expert Compliance and Risk Consultant to join the Compliance Controls team within Electric Risk and Compliance.

You will identify, test, and strengthen key controls, advise management, and drive maturity using governance standards, with office 2-3 days weekly and the rest remote.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of utility compliance experience; advanced knowledge of CPUC, FERC, and WECC is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience.
• Seven years of relevant working experience.
• Master’s degree in engineering, economics, business administration or related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Direct experience in utility compliance, operations or related programs.
• Demonstrated experience performing or overseeing compliance monitoring, documentation validation, audits, or evidence-based assessments.
• Advanced knowledge of California and federal regulatory requirements and electric utility compliance practices.
• Strong problem-solving, project/change management, and communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of utility regulatory frameworks (CPUC, FERC, NERC, WECC).
• Executive communication skills and presence.
• Proficiency in compliance systems, reporting tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., GRC, SAP, Power BI).
• Ability to influence others to achieve understanding, acceptance, and action.
• Highly flexible, self-directed, and adaptable to a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance, coaching, and hands-on support to Electric sub-functions to strengthen and mature the compliance program.
• Develop innovative tools and solutions to support/improve compliance program maturity.
• Assess Electric sub-function compliance programs.
• Perform compliance validation activities and testing controls for design and operating effectiveness.
• Support development and implementation of Electric’s Compliance Controls Program with cross-functional partners.
• Maintain an inventory of regulatory requirements and map them to guidance documents, controls, and trainings.
• Analyze compliance metrics and documentation to identify gaps, trends, and improvements.
• Maintain guidance documents, procedures, templates, and job aids for maturity.
• Identify new or changing regulatory, operational, or risk concerns and update programs/tools accordingly.
• Conduct and support compliance reviews with Electric sub-function leaders and prepare executive-ready reports.
• Serve as SME on compliance maturity practices and share knowledge across the organization.
• Work independently with minimal guidance and influence leadership decisions on risk and compliance issues.
• Assist with other compliance-related projects as directed.
