Job summary

The North Slope Borough School District is seeking a Temporary CSAC Election Worker to assist with CSAC elections at an assigned polling location in Utqiaġvik, AK. This one-day assignment requires ~12+ hours on Election Day, including polling, closing procedures, and ballot tallying.

You will protect voter confidentiality, verify voters, maintain ballot security, and accurately assist with the election count, while greeting voters, providing instructions, and reporting questions to the NSBSD

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in election, clerical, customer service or community service is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Arrive at the polling location at the required time and remain until all duties and ballot counting are complete.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding voters, ballots, election materials, and results.
• Greet voters and provide clear instructions on the voting process without influencing votes.
• Verify voter identity and registration using district records.
• Have voters initial or sign next to their name in the registration book before receiving a ballot.
• Provide the correct CSAC ballot to eligible voters and ensure ballots are properly deposited.
• Secure ballots, ballot box, registration books, and materials throughout the day.
• Protect voter privacy while ballots are completed and do not discuss how anyone voted.
• Stay organized and follow all election instructions from the District.
• Report questions or unusual situations to the NSBSD election contact.
• After polls close, assist with opening the ballot box and tallying ballots.
• Accurately record totals and help verify the final tally. Complete required forms.
• Secure and return ballots and materials as directed by the District.
