Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking an experienced Data Analytics Manager for ABC News in New York. The role blends data science, survey research, and journalism to deliver analytics-driven election coverage across editorial and newsroom platforms.

You will develop analytical tools, write data-rich stories, and work with the Decision Desk on models and projections. Strong Python/SQL/C++ and visualization skills required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data journalism, analytics, and public opinion research with newsroom or political media experience
• Deep knowledge of data journalism, polling, and public opinion research for storytelling
• Experience with programming languages and databases (Python, SQL, C++)
• Strong ability to translate polling/data into engaging stories and visualizations
• Advanced statistics, modeling, and software (R, STAN, SPSS, STATA)
• Experience with data visualization tools (Datawrapper, Tableau, Power BI)
• Solid background in survey research methodology
• Experience with voter data and Census data analysis
• Able to manage multiple stories under tight deadlines
• Strong collaborative skills across teams

Responsibilities

• Develop dashboards and polling metrics for editorial use
• Create editorial content from polling results and data tools for all platforms
• Write/data-driven stories using polling data and external sources
• Ensure accurate context for polling across ABC News platforms
• Collaborate on statistical models for election projections
• Analyze early voting trends using voter files and related data
• Support exit polls analysis for real-time reporting
• Vet external polls and studies for reportability and newsworthiness
