Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The UNCG Gerontology Program, proudly housed in the Department of Social Work, consists of an Undergraduate Minor in Gerontology, Master of Science in Gerontology, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Gerontology. The MS in Gerontology is the only, fully online, accredited program in Gerontology in North Carolina. The mission of the UNCG Gerontology Program is to provide opportunities for learning and practice that create competent and capable gerontologists who meet the needs of the aging population. Students are provided with a scientific, broad, and integrated view of aging through collaborative relationships with academic disciplines, community organizations, and businesses, so students can approach issues of aging from a truly biopsychosocial perspective. The graduate programs in Gerontology prepare students for careers in agencies and programs serving older adults and their families. Graduate programs are flexible and practitioner-oriented with a focus on authentic learning and developing practical knowledge and skills for the job market.
Position Summary
The Gerontology Program in the Department of Social Work invites applications for an adjunct instructor in the graduate Gerontology program. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional with expertise in elder law to teach our Elder Law for Gerontological Professionals course. The online course is taught over a 7.5-week period from August through October.
Duties and responsibilities of the position include:
The successful candidate must meet the SACSCOC guidelines for teaching graduate classes, which is a terminal degree in the field of instruction, or a combination of a graduate degree and significant work experience in the field. Preferably, the candidate will be an elder law attorney or have experience working in an elder law practice.
