York Law Corporation in Berkeley, CA seeks a Civil Litigation Trial Attorney with 5–10 years of California civil litigation experience to represent victims and families in elder abuse and wrongful death cases. This in‑person, full‑time role covers all phases from pre‑litigation through trial and appeal, with no monthly billable‑hour minimum.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; a four-year college degree.
• Admission to the California state bar and in good standing for a minimum of 5 years.
• Minimum 5 years of civil litigation experience in California state and federal courts; business litigation or medical malpractice preferred.
• Minimum 1 jury trial as first chair and experience with arbitration hearings, law and motion hearings, and second-chair trial experience.
• Experience taking and defending depositions of various witnesses and strong writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation for victims and families in wrongful death and elder abuse across all phases of litigation and trial.
• Manage a caseload of elder abuse cases, including pre-litigation to trial, with organized discovery and a strong settlement strategy.
• Create and execute discovery plans, conduct depositions, and handle e-Discovery and related platforms.
• Advocate for victims and families, maintain client communication and manage damages work-up.
• Collaborate with team, health professionals, and agencies to build strong cases.
• Stay updated on elder abuse laws and apply knowledge to case strategy.
• Support the firm with teamwork and ethical professional standards.
• Monitor and counter defense attempts to delay cases and discovery.
