• Develop and monitor Program Services Plans for English Learners, including services and accommodations by language proficiency level.
• Differentiate instruction using language-proficiency data alongside academic and classroom data.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement EL accommodations and provide language supports.
• Participate in Program Services Plan meetings, conferences, intervention meetings and other student-support meetings.
• Maintain required records, logs and progress-monitoring documentation.

TITLE:

English Language Development Teacher / Title I Nonpublic School Service Provider

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Kentucky teaching certificate with English as a Second Language certification or endorsement, primary through grade 12, or eligibility for a probationary ESL endorsement.

REPORTS TO:

Director of District Wide Services or designee

JOB GOAL:

Provide high-quality English language development services to identified English Learners and supplemental Title I services to eligible nonpublic-school students in accordance with federal and state requirements and district procedures.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and terms of employment according to approved certified teacher salary schedules.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the district certified evaluation plan.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides direct, evidence-based English language development instruction to identified English Learners in grades P-12, as assigned.
• Screens newly enrolled students whose Home Language Survey indicates a language other than English using the appropriate WIDA Screener and assists with identification and placement decisions.
• Administers WIDA ACCESS and other required English-language-proficiency assessments in accordance with state and district testing procedures.
• Completes and maintains all required WIDA training and annual test-administration certifications.
• Develops, implements and monitors Program Services Plans for English Learners, including services and accommodations appropriate to each student's language-proficiency level.
• Plans instruction addressing listening, speaking, reading and writing and uses language-proficiency, academic and classroom data to differentiate services.
• Monitors English Learners' academic achievement, language development and progress toward proficiency; maintains accurate schedules, service logs, assessment records and progress-monitoring documentation.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers to provide instructional strategies, scaffolds and language supports and assists staff in implementing documented EL accommodations.
• Participates in Program Services Plan meetings, parent conferences, intervention meetings, ARC meetings and other student-support meetings, as appropriate.
• Supports meaningful access to district curriculum, programs, activities and services and monitors students who have exited EL status for the period required by current guidance.
• Assists with required English Learner data entry, reporting, record reviews, compliance documentation and professional learning for district staff.
• Provides supplemental academic services to eligible students attending The David School and Wesley Christian School in accordance with the district's Title I equitable-services plan.
• Maintains appropriate records and provides required reports to the district.
• Follows a district-approved schedule and maintains appropriate documentation.
• Travels between assigned district and nonpublic-school locations as required; meets schedules and timelines.
• Communicates effectively both orally and in writing and maintains the confidentiality of student information and records
• Maintains a consistently friendly, professional and cooperative manner.
• Participates in required district meetings, professional learning and compliance training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
