Job summary

Sunayu, LLC is seeking an Elastic Search Engineer to join our platform engineering team in Bethesda, MD. You will develop, deploy, and maintain NoSQL databases like Elasticsearch within a Kubernetes-based platform, while advancing GitOps practices across engineering teams.

You will collaborate with systems engineering, architecture, development, security, and operations to deliver resilient solutions in a fast-paced environment on-site at the client location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph.
• Current DoD 8570.01M IAT Level II certification or higher (Security+, CySA+, SSCP, CCNA Security, CISSP).
• Ability to obtain Privileged User Account certification.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container platforms (EKS, Rancher, or RKE2).
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Redis, Keycloak, Strimzi; open-source stacks.
• Experience hardening databases to meet NIST 800-53; strong Linux administration.
• Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting containerized apps; strong communication.
• Ability to collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams; adaptable in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, triage, debug, and maintain production-class databases like Elasticsearch and Redis.
• Design and support configuration management strategies across air-gapped networks.
• Partner with Systems Engineers to architect solutions for new capabilities.
• Contribute to monitoring capabilities and proactive notifications.
• Contribute to engineering docs, diagrams, and models.
• Participate in Agile release planning, scrums, design sessions, and bug triage.
