Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools seeks a dedicated middle school teacher to deliver district-approved curriculum, meet classes at scheduled times, and create a stimulating learning environment.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in education and a valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement. Excellent communication and classroom management skills are essential. This is a full-time on-site position requiring reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid, current Michigan secondary teaching certificate with an endorsement appropriate for subject matter.

Responsibilities

• Teach District approved curriculum.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and the times designated.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
• Diagnose the learning disabilities of students.
• Evaluate pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
• Conducts parent teacher conferences for education related purposes outside the instructional day.
• Supervise classroom and students.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• This is a full time position, requiring regular reliable and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
