Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking a Preschool ECSE Teacher for a full-time, on-site role at the Preschool and Family Center. The position reports to the Principal and requires the candidate to coordinate with general and special education teams and push into inclusive settings to support students with IEPs.

Required are a Bachelor's degree and Michigan teaching certificates (Elementary Education; ZA or ZS preferred).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Current, valid Michigan teaching certificate with Elementary Education endorsement required
  • Current, valid Michigan teaching certificate with Early Childhood (ZA) or Early Childhood Special Education (ZS); preferred
  • Candidates not holding ZA/ZS endorsement must hold a CDA (Child Development Associate) or be willing to obtain one within the first 3 years of the assignment
  • Teaching experience with infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Experience with preschool children with special needs.
  • Experience with assessment and evaluation.
  • Experience writing and implementing IEPs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate preschool students to determine eligibility for special education or to update current present levels.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate programs for special education students ages 2.5 - 5 years.
  • Coordinate teacher caseload.
  • Collaborate with general education, special education and Early On teams.
  • Push into inclusive preschool settings to assist teams in supporting the needs of students with IEPs.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This is a full time position, requiring regular reliable and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Education

Bachelor's degree
Michigan teaching certificate with Elementary Education endorsement

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Interact with the public and other staff as required.
  • Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.
