Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking an EL Assistant to support English Learner students in grades K–5. Under the EL Teacher, you will provide instructional support in both general and EL classrooms, helping students develop language proficiency and participate in the core curriculum.

You will assist with language development lessons, work with individuals and small groups, monitor progress, prepare materials, and collaborate with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work with elementary students from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to EL students in grades K–5.
• Assist with language development lessons and interventions.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce language and literacy.
• Support access to grade-level curriculum with accommodations as directed by the EL Teacher.
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure consistent instructional support and student success.
• Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independence while promoting an inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with preparing instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning activities.
• Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to the EL Teacher.
