Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform routine and emergency EKGs as requested by physicians. The role requires accurate electrode placement, proficient use of the MUSE system, and clear communication with patients and staff.

The candidate should have completed a Medical Assistant program with EKG training or have at least six months of cardio graphic experience, preferably in a busy acute care hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant course that includes EKG or six months experience performing cardio graphic procedures.
• Six months in a high volume acute care hospital setting preferred.

Location: Main Hospital Bldg - 1st Flr

Primary Purpose

Performs routine and emergency EKG's per doctor's request to provide a diagnostic tool for diagnosis and treatment.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant course that includes EKG OR must have six months of experience performing cardio graphic procedures.
• Prefer six months in high volume acute care hospital setting

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:

• May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Skills or Special Abilities:

• Must be able to identify the proper placement of electrodes for a 12-Lead EKG.
• Must be able to perform 12-Lead EKG.
• Must be able to utilize the MUSE (EKG Management System) for edit of EKGs prior to physician interpretation.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of PC operations and the ability to use work processing and spreadsheet software in a Windows environment.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of equipment in order to monitor its general working condition.
• Utilizes creativity and innovation in attaining desired outcomes.
