Job summary

Parkland Health seeks a Medical Assistant to perform routine and emergent EKGs upon physician request, aiding diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will place electrodes correctly for 12-Lead EKGs, use the MUSE system for edits, and communicate clearly with patients and staff.

Experience includes a Medical Assistant program with EKG training or six months of cardio graphic procedure work, preferably in a busy acute care environment. Location is the Main Hospital Building, 1st Floor.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant course that includes EKG or six months of experience performing cardiographic procedures.
• Prefer six months in high volume acute care hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency EKGs per doctor request to provide a diagnostic tool for diagnosis and treatment.
• Identify electrode placements for a 12-Lead EKG.
• Utilize the MUSE EKG Management System for edits before physician interpretation.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff.
• Monitor and ensure proper function of ECG equipment.
• Approach problems with a holistic, organized, urgent mindset and share information with the team.

Primary Purpose

Performs routine and emergency EKG's per doctor's request to provide a diagnostic tool for diagnosis and treatment.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant course that includes EKG OR must have six months of experience performing cardio graphic procedures.
• Prefer six months in high volume acute care hospital setting

Equivalent Education And/or Experience

• May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Skills Or Special Abilities

• Must be able to identify the proper placement of electrodes for a 12-Lead EKG.
• Must be able to perform 12-Lead EKG.
• Must be able to utilize the MUSE (EKG Management System) for edit of EKGs prior to physician interpretation.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of PC operations and the ability to use work processing and spreadsheet software in a Windows environment.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of equipment in order to monitor its general working condition.
• Utilizes creativity and innovation in attaining desired outcomes.
