Job summary

Hudson County Community College is seeking an EKG and Phlebotomy Technician instructor for the School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development. This role delivers classroom and lab instruction, prepares students with knowledge, technical skills and professionalism for employment and national certification.

Part-time, up to 24 hours per week, paid hourly between $30 and $40 based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent hands-on clinical experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, laboratory, or physician practice.
  • Previous teaching in Continuing Education or healthcare training experience.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Experience preparing students for national certification examinations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom lectures using current evidence-based medical practices.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in EKG procedures, phlebotomy techniques, infection control, patient safety, and professionalism.
  • Prepare lesson plans and deliver instruction using the approved curriculum and syllabus.
  • Evaluate student performance through written examinations, laboratory competencies, and practical skills assessments.
  • Prepare students for national certification examinations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student progress records.
  • Provide timely feedback regarding academic performance, attendance, and professional conduct.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and laboratory environment.

About This Role

The School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is seeking an experienced healthcare professional to provide classroom and laboratory instruction for the EKG and Phlebotomy Technician programs. The instructor will prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and professionalism necessary for successful employment and national certification.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver engaging classroom lectures using current evidence-based medical practices.
  • Provide hands‑on instruction in EKG procedures, phlebotomy techniques, infection control, patient safety, and professionalism.
  • Prepare lesson plans and deliver instruction using the approved curriculum and syllabus.
  • Evaluate student performance through written examinations, laboratory competencies, and practical skills assessments.
  • Prepare students for national certification examinations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student progress records.
  • Provide timely feedback regarding academic performance, attendance, and professional conduct.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Identify classroom equipment and supply needs and communicate them to the Associate Director.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to ensure program quality, student success, and compliance with college policies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
