Job summary

Hudson County Community College is seeking an experienced healthcare professional to serve as a part-time instructor for EKG and Phlebotomy in the School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development. The role combines classroom and laboratory instruction to prepare students for employment and national certification.

The position offers an hourly rate ($30.00–$40.00) based on qualifications and experience, with a maximum of 24 hours per week and per diem needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands‑on clinical experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, laboratory, or physician practice.
  • Previous teaching in Continuous Education or healthcare training.
  • RN or LPN license.
  • Experience preparing students for national certification examinations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom lectures using current evidence-based medical practices.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in EKG procedures, phlebotomy techniques, infection control, patient safety, and professionalism.
  • Prepare lesson plans and deliver instruction using the approved curriculum and syllabus.
  • Evaluate student performance through written examinations, laboratory competencies, and practical skills assessments.
  • Prepare students for national certification examinations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student progress records.
  • Provide timely feedback regarding academic performance, attendance, and professional conduct.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Identify classroom equipment and supply needs and communicate them to the Associate Director.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to ensure program quality, student success, and compliance with college policies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

About This Role

The School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is seeking an experienced healthcare professional to provide classroom and laboratory instruction for the EKG and Phlebotomy Technician programs. The instructor will prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and professionalism necessary for successful employment and national certification.

Summary Of Duties

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Experience preparing students for national certification examinations is highly desirable.

  • National certification in EKG and/or Phlebotomy.
