Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an EIT 2 to support the Power Generation Business Sector on power projects. The candidate will perform design and monitoring tasks under supervision of a licensed engineer in Louisville, KY, with remote or hybrid work options.

The role involves site grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater, hydrologic/hydraulic, utility design, inspections, and field activities. Will travel to Midwest/Mid-Atlantic as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of engineering experience or mentored-equivalents.
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering required.
  • Passed FE exam and EIT or EI certification.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design tasks and associated drawings.
  • Perform site investigations and field observations.
  • Conduct field inspections (daily/weekly).
  • Assist with permit applications and documentation.
  • Coordinate with licensed engineers and project teams.
  • Travel to Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions as needed.

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an EIT 2 to work with the Power Generation Business Sector on primarily Power Generation projects and when needed other regional projects. GAI offers its employees the ability to work remotely or in a hybrid setting. The successful candidate will be working out of the Louisville, KY office and will perform both design and monitoring tasks under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer.

  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic / Drainage Plans
  • Utility Design and Relocation Plans
  • Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans
  • Geotechnical Investigations
  • Permit Applications (earth disturbance permits, building permits, land development plans, high
    occupancy permits, etc.)
  • Access Road Section Development
  • Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Quality Control Plans
  • Field Investigations
  • Daily/Weekly Construction Inspections
  • Earthwork Construction Quality Control
  • Compaction Testing
  • ESC Inspections
  • SWPPP Inspections
  • The candidate should have the desire and ability to travel to Project sites, as needed, primarily
    in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to workindoorsin professional office settings.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods whileperforming computer-based tasks.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
  • Visual acuity to readprinted materials, digital screens, detailed documents,and perform detailed work.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment.Abilityto move between workstations and attend in-person meetings.
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipmentweighingup to 10-20 pounds, with or withoutassistance.

  • Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes.

Minimum Years of Experience

Education
  • B.S. or M.S. Engineering
Certification/Licensure
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Performs basic design tasks.
  • Assists on tasks such as: field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing.
Project and Task Management
  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
  • No managerial responsibilities at this level.
Management Responsibility
  • Receives close supervision on most aspects of assignments, particularly on difficult problems, and a general review of all aspects of work.
  • Receives mentorship from a licensed engineer.
Communication Skills
  • Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.
  • Engages in few project stakeholder interactions.
