Job summary

UMass Boston is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Technician to support the OEHS Office in implementing safety, environmental compliance, and emergency management programs across campus. You will work with faculty, staff, students, and contractors to understand plans and ensure adherence to regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and <1 year EHS experience required.
• Alternative: Associate's degree with 3–5 years EHS experience.
• Alternative: High school diploma with 5–7 years EHS experience.
• Ability to obtain certifications in Industrial Hygiene, CHMM, or CSP.

Responsibilities

• Assist with campus fire safety program inspections and maintenance.
• Support IAQ investigations and prepare inspection reports.
• Perform fume hood and safety equipment inspections.
• Monitor construction sites for dust and noise containment.
• Assist in safety training and outreach activities.
• Input data into hazardous materials inventory system and support waste handling.
