Job summary

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of OSHA safety standards and workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to use computers, including MS Office suite, ERP for procurement and other EHS specific software.
  • Ability to identify hazards and recognize unsafe conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Education: High school Diploma, GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification; willingness to obtain additional certification.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or related environment (internship/co-op experience acceptable).
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations or workplace safety principles preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other safety and environmental regulations.
  • Support routine workplace inspections and hazard assessments to identify risks.
  • Help collect and report safety metrics to stakeholders.
  • Assist with incident investigations and documenting findings.
  • Coordinate and deliver basic safety training for new hires and ongoing topics.
  • Maintain safety records and assist with report preparation.
  • Assist with waste management, SPCC, recycling, and environmental compliance.
  • Support emergency response planning and drills.
  • Procure and maintain safety equipment stock and replenishments.

Base pay rate starts at $21.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Rotating Shifts (1st and 2nd)

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician I support the implementation and maintenance of workplace safety and environmental programs. This role assists in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while promoting a safe and sustainable work environment. The EHS Technician I works under guidance to monitor safety practices, conduct inspections, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Inspection & Risk Identification: Support routine workplace inspections and hazard assessments to identify potential risks and unsafe conditions.
  • KPI and performance tracking: Support and sustain collection and reporting and communication of data to plant and organization stakeholders.
  • Incident Investigation Support: Assist with incident investigations, including documenting findings and helping identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Safety Training: Help coordinate and deliver basic safety training programs, including new hire orientation and recurring safety topics.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Maintain safety records, track basic safety metrics, and assist with report preparation.
  • Environmental Support: Assist with waste management, SPCC, recycling programs, and environmental compliance activities.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Support emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness initiatives.
  • Procurement and maintenance support for safety related equipment: Control of PPE stock and creation of replenishment requisitions.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Basic understanding of OSHA safety standards and workplace safety practices
  • Ability to use computers, including MS office suite, ERP for procurement and other EHS specific software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lifting Capacity - ability to lift up 30 lbs.
  • Mobility - prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc.
  • Exposure - moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Noise Tolerance - high noise levels.
