Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Huntington Beach, CA is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. You will support compliance and risk reduction, implement safety programs, and drive improvements across the facility.

You will investigate incidents, lead EHS training, manage hazardous waste activities, and monitor safety performance with operations and leadership to strengthen workplace safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA requirements; familiarity with environmental regulations.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
• Experience with environmental compliance programs and hazardous waste management.
• Ability to manage projects and priorities independently.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication; proficient with Microsoft Office and EHS software.

Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day execution and maintenance of assigned EHS programs and initiatives.
• Conducts inspections, audits, compliance assessments, corrective action tracking, and documentation activities.
• Monitors EHS program effectiveness and recommends improvements to reduce risk.
• Maintains records, reports, permits, and documentation per requirements.
• Leads investigations of injuries, near misses, and environmental incidents; applies root cause analysis.
• Coordinates and delivers EHS training, new hire orientation, compliance tracking.
• Supports hazardous waste management, spill prevention and environmental inspections.
• Compiles and analyzes EHS metrics and identifies trends for improvements.
• Participates in audits, assessments, and escalation of significant compliance concerns.
