Job summary

Castelion is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support manufacturing, R&D, and test operations. You will conduct inspections, manage hazardous materials and waste, and maintain required records and permits to keep people safe and operations compliant as we scale.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years of experience supporting EHS programs in manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA or Cal-OSHA requirements.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically to support operations at other locations.
• Ability to meet U.S. export control requirements (ITAR or EAR).

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine safety and compliance inspections across manufacturing, R&D, and test areas.
• Perform JHA walkdowns ensuring steps, hazards, and controls are documented.
• Verify PPE, guarding, lockout, ventilation, monitors, and other safety controls daily.
• Support PPE programs: assessments, fittings, training, and usage verification.
• Maintain records, permits, postings, and inspection logs for EHS programs.
• Assist industrial hygiene activities: sampling, data collection, lab coordination.
• Support incident investigations by gathering facts and tracking corrective actions.
• Schedule and document EHS trainings, onboarding and refresher sessions.
• Manage hazardous waste areas: labeling, inventory, inspections, shipments.
• Maintain chemical inventories and Safety Data Sheets.
• Support environmental reporting and permit renewals as directed.
• Assist site emergency preparedness and drills.
