Job summary

Hach, a Veralto company, is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at the Ames, IA facility. You will support day-to-day EHS compliance, training, reporting, audits, incident follow-up, and continuous improvement to strengthen safety culture.

Reporting to the EHS Manager, you’ll ensure OSHA/EPA compliance, ISO certifications, and the development of EHS policies. This onsite role requires travel 1–2 times per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 3+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
• Regulatory compliance, permitting, OSHA/EPA programs, reporting, and recordkeeping experience.
• Training in RCRA Hazardous Waste Management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
• Ability to work onsite in Ames, IA and travel 1–2 times per year.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary EHS point of contact for the Ames site and support the EHS Manager.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, IDNR and ISO standards.
• Conduct job safety analyses, investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and support workers’ compensation processes.
• Develop and improve EHS policies, procedures, training programs, and emergency response plans.
• Coordinate safety committees, audits, and ISO certifications; maintain EHS reporting and metrics.
