Job Purpose

Lead and coordinate safety initiatives and related programs for an assigned region. To execute EnerSys safety goals and support corporate safety initiatives. Additionally, the Regional Specialist will interface and assist in ES Services safety transformation process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop environmental, health, safety, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate requirements. Recommends courses of action and develops procedures for compliance with new and revised laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Responsible for all required reports to regulatory agencies. Maintains all related records and documents. Interacts both verbally and in writing with required agencies.
  • Responsible for OSHA, hazardous waste programs, internal audits, transportation, training, and others as required.
  • Maintain current certification and knowledge of regulatory environment through attendance at workshops and seminars and review of relevant literature.
  • Assist management in implementing Safety, Health, and Environmental programs.
  • Standardize EHS Policies, Procedures, and Training.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis and statistical analysis of incidents and accidents.
  • Develop and present training materials.
  • Proficiency in Hazmat procedures.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor and assess safety program execution.
  • Manage worker compensation programs.
  • Manage Facility Audits for compliance.
  • Conduct safety orientations and meetings for employees, general contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings to discuss issues, trends, and goals.
  • Coach and guide regional management on safety and health issues.
  • Respond to OSHA, EPA, and DOT investigations and participate in hearings.
  • Oversee first responder/medical emergency programs.
  • Assist in the professional development of regional staff on safety topics.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience in safety-related positions or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in electrical background is highly desired.
  • 2 to 5 years of construction, electrical projects, or related experience.
  • 5 years' experience in the electrical field.

General Job Requirements

  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment with varying conditions.
  • Expect minimal physical demands but occasional overnight travel for audits, customer visits, etc.
