Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks a seasoned Environmental Health and Safety professional to provide compliant EH&S programs across the West Point site. You will integrate EH&S into daily operations, drive continuous improvement, and align objectives with site goals and values.

You will lead hazard assessments, investigations, and training programs, while ensuring regulatory submissions and non-compliance remediation. This hybrid role supports safety initiatives and performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required, concentration in Safety or Environmental related technical discipline preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years applied professional Environmental Health and Safety work experience
• Basic level of proficiency in environmental compliance, occupational health and safety, process safety, critical thinking, communication skills, and problem solving
• Awareness of project management techniques and basic budgeting

Responsibilities

• Completes hazard assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, process hazard analysis, life safety reviews, incident investigations, environmental regulatory field analysis, environmental reports and supports permit applications
• Prepares reports of assessments, evaluations, and investigations, including findings and corrective and/or preventative recommendations
• Interacts with departments to correct non-compliance issues, including follow-up on corrective actions
• Reviews processes, facilities, procedures and management of change documents to assure conformance to Environmental Health and Safety regulations, standards and guidelines
• Provides support to client groups in completing injury/illness/incident investigation and analysis, training, self-assessments and addressing Environmental Health and Safety concerns
• Develops Environmental Health and Safety procedures, guidelines and training programs as assigned
• Provides leadership to support sustained performance of action-oriented Environmental Health and Safety committees
• Supports site’s Environmental Health and Safety priorities and initiatives as assigned
• Assures completion of all regulatory submissions, notifications, etc. required to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local Environmental Health and Safety requirements
