Job Description
The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to work at the facility in Muscatine, IA. The primary purpose of this position is to administer EHS processes (Safety & Health, Environmental, Facility Security, Pandemic Planning) to achieve compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Act as backup for the EHS Manager during off‑shift hours, making independent decisions and triaging incidents.
- Implement the Kraft Heinz Safety Playbook and Safety Rules.
- Participate in QRMP annual audit and help develop procedures and corrective actions.
- Accountable for the QRMP system and operational standards as outlined in the plant accountability list.
- Drive EHS strategies aligned with corporate objectives to reduce operational risk.
- Use key metrics to illustrate and influence performance in EHS.
- Communicate EHS factory results.
- Attend the annual EHS conference, quarterly webcasts, and regional meetings.
- Act as primary liaison with factory management and supervisors regarding incidents that could jeopardize brand integrity.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable EHS legislation and best practices.
- Manage EHS financial budget.
- Ensure compliance with Heinz policies, procedures, and operating principles.
- Recommend new policies or procedures as needed.
- Coordinate and assist implementation of continuous improvement principles in EHS.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and training across a broad range of topics.
- Implement Heinz EHS Management Systems and best practices.
- Provide training to management and employees on EHS contributions.
- Ensure compliance with all EHS legislation.
- Coordinate and attend hearings on EHS matters.
- Facilitate activities related to EHS controls.
- Administer new and current processes and tools to meet regulations.
- Implement facility‑specific EHS business plans and action items.
- Assist with injury and claim management.
- Meet corporate deadlines and targets.
- Facilitate workers’ compensation processes.
- Drive optimal EHS performance results.
- Partner with business leaders on process improvement initiatives (Six Sigma / KHMS), including change leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent.
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
- Preferred: 1‑3 years experience in safety and environmental management.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations and systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Desired certifications: ASP, CSP, CHMM.
- Preferred: experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast‑paced team.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to grow with the organization and commit to meeting aggressive objectives.
- Judgment, problem‑solving, decision‑making skills.
- Computer proficiency.
