Job summary

BENTELER Automotive Corporation is hiring an EHS professional to support the Environmental, Health and Safety agenda on site in Louisiana. You will assist in implementing safety programs, conducting trainings, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA and DEQ regulations.

The role involves investigating incidents, coordinating with multiple departments, and maintaining essential EHS records and reports. A BA/BS in safety or related field and 5–10 years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Occupational Safety or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years of experience preferred in risk control, safety, and environmental protection.
  • Ability to analyze regulatory standards and determine best practices.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DEQ reporting expectations is desirable.
  • Professional credentials such as ASP, CSP, CHMM, EMT, or equivalent preferred.
  • SAP knowledge and Microsoft Office proficiency expected.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the EHS Manager in leading all EHS processes to provide a safe workplace and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement safety programs, training, and safety committees.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards and environmental risks to prevent pollution.
  • Deliver education, policies, and procedures to minimize incidents.
  • Coordinate with EPA/DEQ and other agencies on compliance matters.
  • Coordinate security processes to protect personnel and property.
  • Maintain OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and other required reports and paperwork.
  • Create and monitor incident statistics and trends for improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with audits, gemba walks, and safety/environmental initiatives.
  • Evaluate new equipment/processes using risk assessment methods.
  • Coordinate subcontractor training and enforce safety rules.
  • Monitor air/noise levels to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate across departments to manage waste reporting and compliance.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Assist the EHS Manager in leading all EnvironmentHealth and Safety (EHS) processes in order to provide a safe workplace that protects and enhances the well-being of employees, guests, and outside contractors in order to comply with all governmental regulations.
  • Assures compliance with state and federal regulations in addition to company policies and procedures.
  • Consults, trains, directs, develops and implements safety programs and safety committees to promote overall health and safety and to meet OSHA regulations.
  • Investigates work related accidents and injuries and establishes appropriate behavior modifications to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Investigates potential safety hazards to eliminate risks of workplace injury and environmental hazards to mitigate the risk of pollution to the environment.
  • Provides education, policies, and procedures to minimize and eliminate work related accidents.
  • Works with EHS Manager and other personnel to ensure compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Environmental Quality.
  • Establishes and coordinates an effective security process to protect all associates, property and visitors.
  • Maintainsall required OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and other compliance related reports and paperwork- such as OSHA logs, environmental permitreports, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information.
  • Creates, maintains, and monitors accident/incident/near miss/property damage statistics and reports to identify opportunity for improvement, risk areas/equipmentand injury trends.
  • Actively assistswith safety, environmental, fire prevention, and housekeeping audits/gemba walks.
  • Evaluates new equipment and processes and identifies areas of improvement by means of risk assessment methodology.
  • Coordinates the training ofsubcontractors by means of training, enforcing rules, auditing, tracking compliance, etc.
  • Assists in monitoring air and noise levels to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Works along with multiple departments to ensure all waste management paperwork and the subsequent reporting to government entities is handled properly and efficiently.
  • Work with EHS Manager and co-workers to ensure the local and corporate prevention programs expands to every employee.
Job Requirements:
  • BA/BS Occupational Safety or related field – or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5-10 year’s experience preferred with all risk control issues such as employee health, safety, fire protection and environmental protection, preferably in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze regulatory and non-regulatory standards to determine best practices.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies preferred,
  • Experience with medical procedures, protocols, processes, etc.
  • OSHA Recordkeeping Requirements Knowledge and Safety Metric Calculations
  • ASP, CSP, CHMM, EMT, or equivalent professional credential preferred
  • SAP knowledge Preferred/Microsoft Office Suite Required.
