Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking an EHS Specialist in Ogden, Utah to develop and implement policies addressing hazardous conditions. Job description

About the role

As an EHS Specialist you will develop and implement policies to identify and reduce hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments. You will investigate accidents and environmental incidents, work with engineers, management, environmental, health and safety regulatory authorities to determine causes and prevent recurrence, provide advice and training on protocols, and conduct audits to ensure compliance with organizational and government standards. You will maintain relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other partners impacted by the organization’s environmental performance.

I will report to the Lead EHS Specialist and be located in Ogden, UT. This is an onsite role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent environmental issues and opportunities in areas such as RCRA, plant waste streams – used oil, general waste, universal waste, solid waste, and hazardous waste.
  • Promote the development and sharing of essential health and safety learning, including operating experience, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Support development of site environmental programs, tools and standards, including training and communication to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Conduct and facilitate assessments, implement or partner with sites and departments to implement corrections and controls.
  • Support improvement projects through data analysis related to site‑specific environmental issues.
  • Promote health and safety awareness throughout the organization through employee communications, participation, and programs.
Qualifications
  • Strong records management skills.
  • Willingness to safely operate a forklift and manage site waste, including hazardous, universal, and solid waste shipments, and roll‑off management.
  • Experience in environmental waste management and completion of RCRA training.
  • Experience working with hazardous waste or in an environmental or safety role.
  • At least 1 year of progressive experience in a moderate to high industrial safety/health risk workplace.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents.
  • Ability and flexibility to work collaboratively in a team setting.

The base salary range for this position is estimated to be $64,800 to $81,000 per year.
