Job summary

STS Technical Services in Milwaukee, WI is seeking an EHS Specialist to support a growing manufacturing operation focused on safe, compliant performance across fabrication and assembly areas.

You will develop and improve workplace safety and environmental programs, conduct audits, train staff, and investigate incidents, coordinating safety initiatives with leadership to protect employees and keep operations compliant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a degree
  • At least two years of hands-on experience in a similar environmental health and safety role
  • Previous safety experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental standards
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate safety expectations across all levels of an organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience using safety management software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare clear reports
  • Willingness and ability to work different shifts, including weekends, when required
  • Bilingual communication skills are preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace safety audits to identify hazards and reduce operational risk
  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs
  • Support compliance with applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
  • Conduct safety training for employees and managers based on organizational and job-specific needs
  • Deliver safety orientation for new employees
  • Coordinate annual safety training and required refresher programs
  • Develop and deliver job-specific safety procedures
  • Lead incident investigations and identify root causes
  • Recommend and track corrective actions following workplace incidents
  • Manage lockout/tagout safety programs
  • Administer confined space safety procedures
  • Support respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs
  • Oversee powered industrial truck safety programs
  • Collaborate with the Safety Committee and department leaders
  • Lead employee safety meetings and promote awareness across the organization
  • Encourage employee participation in workplace safety initiatives
  • Support emergency response planning and evacuation procedures
  • Coordinate fire drills and emergency preparedness activities
  • Monitor emergency lighting and related safety systems
  • Maintain accurate safety records and prepare comprehensive reports
  • Support continuous improvement across environmental health and safety processes
  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with operational teams

Job description

STS Technical Services is hiring an EHS Specialist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This role supports a growing manufacturing operation committed to maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment. The EHS Specialist will help strengthen environmental health and safety processes across large-scale fabrication and assembly operations while working closely with managers, department leaders, and employees throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on manufacturing safety experience, strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements, and the ability to develop practical safety programs that improve compliance, reduce risk, and encourage employee engagement.

Position Overview

The EHS Specialist will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental programs.

This position requires regular collaboration with operational leadership to identify hazards, conduct safety training, investigate incidents, maintain required records, and ensure employees understand and follow established safety procedures.

The EHS Specialist will also manage several core safety programs and support emergency response planning throughout the facility.
