Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard in High Point, NC is seeking a Safety Director to lead EHS programs across manufacturing and warehouse operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and a culture of safety excellence.

You will develop policies, conduct risk assessments, deliver training, oversee OSHA/EPA/DOT compliance, and drive continuous improvement in safety metrics. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CSD, ASP, or CIH preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
• Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
• Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
• Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
• Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
• Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
• Develop and execute company-wide safety strategies, policies, and programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
• Lead corrective action efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and supervisors.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and response planning.
• Monitor safety metrics and provide regular reports to leadership.
• Oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
