Job summary

Hussmann is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern for the 2027 Hussmann Summer Internship Program to gain hands-on experience in engineering. You will work with the engineering team to provide development support across product areas and learn the day-to-day life of an engineering professional.

The internship runs twelve weeks, May through August, with opportunities to network with senior leaders, tour facilities, and participate in the Ideation & Innovation Challenge.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
• Highly motivated and eager to learn.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to relocate, if not local.

Responsibilities

• Assist with validating software operation in electronic equipment controls.
• Learn customers' needs and processes for developing and releasing the product.
• Learn and follow the processes in application development, validation, and troubleshooting of control systems.
• Prepare technical information and training materials for other groups, customers, and leadership.
• Utilize CAD, Reliability Analysis, and related engineering tools.
• Develop detailed specifications, project plans, milestones, and budgets.
• Follow project plans and communicate status to the team.
• Network with senior leaders, associates, and other interns to learn about our organization.
• Tour Hussmann facilities and the R&D Lab; participate in events.
• Participate in community stewardship and Ideation & Innovation Challenge.
