Job summary

Tailored Adhesives seeks an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead the development and management of environmental, health, and safety programs across our operations. You will ensure regulatory compliance, promote a safe workplace, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

The role requires expertise in OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards, plus hands-on experience in training, audits, CAPA, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Safety Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5–8+ years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Proven experience conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, hazard analyses, and environmental compliance audits.

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager – Job Description

The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role promotes a safe work environment, minimizes environmental impact, and drives continuous improvement in workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Conduct workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, and environmental audits to identify and eliminate hazards.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental events, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and deliver employee safety training programs, including hazard communication, emergency response, PPE, chemical handling, and ergonomics.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, and hazardous waste management programs.
  • Monitor air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, waste disposal, and other environmental compliance activities.
  • Develop and coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire safety, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
  • Lead safety committees and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Track and report safety metrics, injury rates, environmental performance, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Manage workers' compensation cases and return-to-work programs.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and respond to findings from OSHA, EPA, and other agencies.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and human resources to improve workplace safety and environmental performance.
  • Oversee contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with company safety requirements.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace injuries, environmental risks, and regulatory non-compliance.

  • Familiarity with emergency response planning, fire protection, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
  • Strong understanding of workers' compensation, injury prevention, ergonomics, and return-to-work programs.
  • Experience managing environmental permits, waste disposal, air emissions, wastewater, and stormwater compliance programs.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safety culture at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management software.
  • Ability to prepare reports, maintain regulatory documentation, and present safety performance metrics to management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, conduct facility inspections, and work in production, laboratory, warehouse, and outdoor environments as needed.
