Job summary

Interacid North America, Inc. seeks an EHS Manager to lead environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance programs across operations and expansion projects. Hybrid work with in-office days, travel to project sites, and supervision of 1-2 staff. Ideal candidates hold a related bachelor's degree and 7–10+ years of EHS experience in chemical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• 7–10+ years of EHS experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, or hazardous materials environment.
• Experience with environmental permitting for capital projects or plant expansions.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry & Construction, EPA regulations, state DEP regulations, and PSM.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading and implementing environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance programs for Interacid North America (ITNA) facilities in operation, and expansion and construction projects as the business grows. This role requires expertise in process safety, regulatory permitting, and EHS oversight, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Location: Candidates may be expected to work in-office 2-3 days per week.

Area of Focus

EHS Leadership & Strategy

• Develop and execute EHS strategies aligned with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.
• Provide leadership to ensure a proactive safety culture across construction and operational teams.
• Serve as the primary EHS contact for capital expansion projects.
• This role may have 1 or more reports at various sites.

Environmental Permitting & Regulatory Compliance

• Manage all environmental permitting activities for ongoing operations and expansion projects, including but not limited to:
  • Air permits (e.g., Title V, PSD) or notice of exemption
  • Water permits (NPDES, stormwater, SWPPP, Ground Water)
  • Waste management permits (RCRA)
  • SPCC
  • HMBP
  • New regs by state
• Coordinate permit applications, modifications, and renewals with regulatory agencies.
• Interpret environmental regulations and ensure project designs meet compliance requirements.
• Act as liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Jurisdictions include Florida, Texas, Nevada, and California.
• Project growth is expected in Arizona and California.
• Potential for additional growth.

Process Safety Management (PSM)

• ITNA does not currently fall under OSHA PSM. Should that change as part of future growth, this role would be required to lead that transition.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) for hazardous chemicals.
• Participate in or lead:
  • Process Hazard Analyses (PHA)
  • Management of Change (MOC)
  • Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
• Integrate process safety considerations into capital project design and execution.

Risk Management & Incident Prevention

• Identify and evaluate environmental and safety risks associated with construction and operations.
• Implement mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses.

Training & Communication

• Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the HSI system. HSI is the software program that ITNA uses to manage SDS, routine safety training, incident reporting, and RCFA.
• Maintain the ITNA EHS Manual and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
• Ensure all personnel are trained in site-specific hazards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate EHS expectations to project teams and leadership.

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain compliance records, permits, and inspection reports.
• Prepare regulatory submissions and reports (e.g., Tier II, TRI where applicable).
• Track EHS KPIs and provide regular updates to leadership.

Success Metrics

• Zero Leak Plan compliance. All leaks are investigated using RCFA with results reported to shareholder company, corrective actions completed and documented.
• Zero lost-time incidents and strong safety performance during construction and routine operations.
• Timely acquisition of permits with no regulatory violations
• Successful integration of EHS into project lifecycle
• Compliance audit results and reduced incident rates
• Roadmap for the maturity of the ITNA EHS program.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise 1-2 direct reports who may have dotted line reporting to Terminal Managers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong leadership and influencing skills across cross-functional teams
• Excellent knowledge of regulatory frameworks and permitting processes
• Risk assessment and problem-solving expertise
• Effective communication with regulatory agencies and senior leadership
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• 7–10+ years of EHS experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, or hazardous materials environment.
• Demonstrated experience with environmental permitting for capital projects or plant expansions.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • OSHA (General Industry & Construction)
  • EPA regulations (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA)
  • State DEP regulations or the ability to learn about state specific compliance obligations.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM)

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM).
• Experience with large-scale capital projects ($10M+).
• Familiarity with local and state permitting agencies and processes: Florida, Texas, Nevada, and California.
• USCG regulations for Marine Terminals.
• Experience working with EPC contractors and engineering firms.
• Experience as a people leader preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid role with a mix of on‑site and remote work, subject to operational requirements.
• May require extended or flexible hours to support travel to sites and operations support
