Job summary

A.O. Smith is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to lead and optimize environmental, health and safety programs across facilities in the United States. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, strategy development and council representation to improve safety performance.

You will develop training, oversee investigations, manage budgets, and mentor EHSS staff while coordinating with multiple plants and stakeholders. This onsite role offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience in EHSS or safety roles.
• Leadership experience or capability through projects.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Leads EHSS projects across multiple plants or scopes.
• Mentors less experienced EHSS professionals.
• Strong problem-solving and regulatory interpretation skills.
• Familiarity with US EPA, SSHA, DOT, OSHA and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Implements, oversees and adapts EHSS policies and programs.
• Leads strategies for environmental, health, safety and security.
• Manage EHSS budget and report via ISO-based platform.
• Perform safety plans, job hazard analyses and investigations.
• Develop and monitor safety initiatives and trainings.
• Manage workers' compensation claim process.
