Job summary

Crane NXT is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to lead the site's EHS strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance and a proactive safety culture across manufacturing operations. You will design and maintain programs, develop emergency plans, and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional partners.

The role requires a strong track record in incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and training, with a focus on reducing risk and enhancing operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive Environmental, Health, and Safety experience within a manufacturing environment, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and safety audits.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety programs including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, contractor safety, and ergonomics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures that align with company goals and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and execute emergency response plans, coordinating drills, and ensuring preparedness for potential incidents.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the manufacturing operation, coaching leaders and employees while proactively identifying and addressing safety risks.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations and maintain audit readiness to those regulations.
  • Lead regulatory inspections, audits, permitting activities, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead thorough investigations into workplace incidents and near-misses, developing strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide ongoing training and communication to employees on EHS practices, emergency response, and safe procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Partner with operations, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to incorporate EHS principles into continuous improvement initiatives and capital projects and operational objectives.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics and trends, utilizing data to drive strategic improvements and reduce organizational risk.
Lead site safety committee activities and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develop annual EHS plans and objectives aligned with corporate strategy.
  • Lead, coach, and develop site EHS coordinator while partnering with leaders across the facility to strengthen EHS performance, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Serve as the site's primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and corporate EHS leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive Environmental, Health, and Safety experience within a manufacturing environment, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and safety audits.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety programs including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, contractor safety, and ergonomics.
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance requirements related to hazardous waste, stormwater, and permit management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CSD, or equivalent preferred. CSP strongly preferred.
