Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon is seeking an EHS Manager to lead environmental, health and safety compliance across our Spokane Valley, Grand Junction, and Bakersfield facilities. You will partner with operations to ensure OSHA, TSCA, RCRA, air permitting, stormwater, SPCC, hazardous waste and related regulations are met.

You will serve as the site’s primary resource for safety programs, regulatory reporting, incident investigations, training, and continuous improvement, reporting to the Health & Safety

Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental compliance, occupational safety, or EHS management in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Five years minimum in EHS with at least three years in leadership or supervision.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety programs.
  • Working knowledge of TSCA, RCRA, hazardous waste, stormwater, air permitting, and SPCC programs.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to engage employees, supervisors, leadership, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience using EHS/Safety Management software to manage incidents, inspections, corrective actions, audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Experience with environmental compliance programs, regulatory inspections, industrial hygiene sampling coordination, safety management systems, and corrective action tracking.
  • Experience facilitating training, safety meetings, Gemba walks, and cross-functional reviews.
  • Must be available to respond to calls outside normal business hours.

Responsibilities

Job description

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading environmental, health, and safety compliance for the Spokane, Grand Junction and Bakersfield facilities. This position partners directly with operations to ensure compliance with OSHA, TSCA, RCRA, air permitting, stormwater, SPCC, hazardous waste, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

The EHS Manager serves as the site's primary resource for occupational safety, environmental compliance, permitting, inspections, regulatory reporting, incident investigations, employee training, risk assessments, and corrective action management. The role requires a highly visible presence within operations and is expected to drive a proactive culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

While this position supports environmental and safety functions equally, it reports directly to the Health & Safety Director with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Director of Environmental Compliance to ensure balanced support and accountability across both disciplines.

Health & Safety
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and applicable site requirements
  • Implement, administer, and maintain required safety programs including:
    • Hazard Communication
    • Lockout/Tagout
    • Machine Guarding
    • Powered Industrial Trucks
    • PPE
    • Confined Space
    • Emergency Response
    • OSHA Recordkeeping
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, JSAs, and JHAs.
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed.
  • Participate in daily operations meetings and routine Gemba walks.
  • Coordinate required employee training and maintain training records.
  • Evaluate workplace health hazards and coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring when necessary.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and response activities
Environmental Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with TSCA, RCRA, air permits, stormwater permits, SPCC requirements, and other environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections, monitoring, sampling, and reporting activities.
  • Manage hazardous waste accumulation areas, inspections, training requirements, and disposal activities.
  • Oversee PCB compliance activities including storage, inspections, labeling, documentation, transportation, and disposal.
  • Maintain environmental permits and ensure timely completion of required reporting.
  • Conduct environmental audits and compliance assessments.
  • Support spill response activities, corrective actions, and regulatory notifications.
  • Serve as the primary contact during environmental inspections and regulatory interactions.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and maintain site-specific procedures, work instructions, and compliance tools.
  • Provide environmental and safety support to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Track corrective actions, inspection findings, permit obligations, and training requirements to closure.
  • Promote employee involvement and accountability for EHS performance.
  • Support corporate EHS initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience in environmental compliance, occupational safety, or EHS management in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting occupational safety, environmental compliance, risk assessment, or safety programs within an industrial manufacturing environment, including at least three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational safety programs.
  • Working knowledge of TSCA, RCRA, hazardous waste management, stormwater, air permitting, and SPCC programs.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage employees, supervisors, leadership, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience utilizing Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or Safety Management software platforms to manage incidents, inspections, corrective actions, audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Experience with environmental compliance programs, regulatory inspections, industrial hygiene sampling coordination, safety management systems, and corrective action tracking.
  • Experience facilitating employee training, safety meetings, Gemba walks, and cross-functional operational reviews.
  • Must be available to respondto phone calls outside of normal business hours in the event of workplace accidents, emergencies or other critical safety incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • CSP, ASP, CHMM, REM, OHST, or equivalent certification
  • Experience managing environmental permits and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience with PCB management, spill response, hazardous waste, and industrial operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and office environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and stoop while conducting inspections, investigations, or evaluating work processes.
  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders, stairs, platforms, or elevated work areas while performing safety assessments.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to work in varying industrial environments, including exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and moving equipment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to visually inspect work areas, equipment, and documentation, and distinguish safety hazards in various operating conditions.
