Job description

DPR Construction is seeking a Safety Manager to be based in our office. The role involves implementing DPR’s Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHSP) and related programs at assigned construction projects and business units. The Safety Manager will work with project management teams and subcontractors to recognize and address potential hazards before they arise, ensuring compliance with EHSP using behavior-based safety techniques.


Responsibilities


  • Lead and uphold DPR’s injury‑free environment culture.

  • Mentor and develop safety coordinators’ career paths.

  • Lead pre‑qualification processes between DPR and its subcontractors.

  • Coach project and site managers on safety leadership and management practices.

  • Provide trending analysis for project/regional safety data on a weekly, monthly and/or quarterly basis.

  • Foster the development of safety programs and protocols.

  • Develop and blend site‑specific safety plans incorporating both DPR’s and customers’ safe work practices.

  • Assist in continuous development of new methods for hazard abatement.

  • Conduct regular job‑site safety audits of work activities, sharing findings, corrective actions and plans with project management.

  • Escalate issues as needed to maintain an injury‑free environment.

  • Help monitor subcontractor selection and adherence to environmental, safety and health guidelines.

  • Measure team engagement with safety management practices.

  • Maintain regional safety files: training documentation, medical certifications, environmental testing, special training, investigation reports, close calls, injury summaries, leading indicator data and other safety/health documentation.


Qualifications


  • Minimum 5 years of experience on construction sites.

  • OSHA 500 training; competency trainer or “train‑the‑trainer” certifications; other activity‑specific certifications.

  • MS Office proficiency.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Degree in safety management or CHST certification is a plus.

  • Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or OSHPD environments is a plus.

  • Union affiliation as a carpenter or laborer is acceptable.


Salary and Benefits

Salary‑based position with an anticipated starting pay range of $135,000.00 – $175,000.00. DPR offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and wellness programs.
