Your Role at Baxter

EHSS Manager will lead in the areas of environmental, health, safety and sustainability (EHSS). This leader will develop and deploy Plant EHSS strategy, policies, and procedures, ensuring the Plant follows applicable Federal, State, and local laws and fulfills all division and Baxter EHSS objectives. The role also covers Occupational Health programs and requires strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, and influencing skills, as well as the ability to support other Baxter locations.

What you'll be doing
  • Develop, implement, and manage all environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance programs.
  • Evaluate and act upon new EHS regulations.
  • Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies for inspections, permits, and reporting.
  • Monitor and direct the facility regarding permits related to operations and construction.
  • Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
  • Ensure appropriate contracts and review hazardous and non‑hazardous waste disposal.
  • Partner with management to investigate all work‑related accidents and non‑compliance incidents and facilitate mitigation of identified gaps.
  • Perform analytical review and risk‑based assessments to ensure compliance and address proactive actions.
  • Effectively interface with all levels of employees from direct labor through senior management, influencing improvement.
  • Provide EHS technical expertise and resources to new business, validation, and engineering projects with ownership in outcomes.
  • Own and improve site EHS audit program with emphasis on compliance, program effectiveness, and employee engagement.
  • Lead the EHS&S Committee and champion wellness program outcomes.
  • Work with corporate EHS function to support and execute all EHS projects and programs on time and in full.
  • Responsible for EHS plant‑related budget and expenses. Analyze health and safety costs and values that support business alignment.
  • Lead and continuously improve all EHS related training for plant personnel.
  • Manage occupational health programs such as employee health exams, drug testing, and worker’s compensation management.
  • Own and improve site business continuity plan.
What you'll bring
  • BS degree in Environmental Health, Safety or a related field.
  • MS degree in Environmental or Safety Engineering, Technology, or Management – preferred.
  • Minimum of 5‑7 years’ experience in Environmental, Health and Safety or Industrial Hygiene fields, including a specific concentration in EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations and 2‑3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Professional certification in the environmental or safety field (e.g., CHMM, CSP, or CIH) – preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as corporate rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Deep knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations with experience executing California specific requirements and proven ability to develop and execute short‑ and long‑term strategic plans.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and resolve technical difficulties.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and across functional lines.
  • Flexibility to accommodate training programs and investigations on off‑shifts.

The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 – $143,000 annually. The range reflects an anticipated salary range for the position and may vary based on market data and other factors. Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
