Job summary

Trulite Glass & Aluminum Solutions is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager in Cheswick, PA. The role is hands-on, with ~90% time on the production floor, and requires developing and delivering safety programs that meet EPA and OSHA requirements.

Pay ranges from $90,000 to $100,000 with benefits starting day one. A monthly production incentive is available and OSHA/DOT program experience is valued for driving safety improvements in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Safety or equivalent with 2-4 years’ experience as a safety professional or in a similar role.
• Experience managing EH&S programs in manufacturing or heavy industrial settings.
• OSHA 30 preferred; DOT and Driver Safety experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement safety programs and drive best practice across Trulite locations.
• Spend ~90% of time on the production floor performing hands-on safety tasks.
• Create reports ensuring compliance with EPA standards and state regulations.
• Track Workers' Compensation and develop programs to reduce incidents.
• Provide OSHA trainings and coordinate with branch managers to fix exposures.
• Maintain OSHA logs and safety/environmental recordkeeping.
• Lead safety education for supervisors and staff.
• Conduct safety assessments and corrective action plans for audits or violations.
• Provide regulatory updates to plant leadership and ensure timely reporting.
• Interface with OSHA, EPA and state agencies on compliance actions.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

What You Will Be Doing

• Implement safety programs, which ensure a safe workplace for all employees and drives best practice programs throughout all Trulite locations.
• This position is hands on and requires you to spend 90% of your time on the production floor.
• Creates reports to ensure that the facility is in compliance with all federal EPA standards and state environmental regulations (air permitting, hazardous waste, etc.).
• Tracks and reports all Workers' Compensation issues and develops programs to reduce incident rates.
• Conduct training as needed to ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and to improve the focus on safety.
• Work with Branch/ Plant Managers and Supervisors to identify and correct exposures.
• Maintains all OSHA logs and required recordkeeping.
• Develops and delivers effective safety educational programs for supervisors and others.
• Perform safety assessments at location and develops corrective actions plans for any audits, citations, or notice of violations.
• Provide guidance and direction to the plant to keep them informed of regulatory changes affecting their business operations.
• Ensures timely and accurate preparation of government and company safety and environmental reports that satisfy reporting requirements.
• Serve as the primary interface with OSHA, EPA, and state applicable agencies for all compliance and enforcement actions.
• Maintains safety and environmental performance metrics, statistics, records, injury reporting, and record keeping systems.
• Maintain all safety policies in compliance with regulations and establish effective safety guidelines.
• Provide leadership for safety awareness and incentive programs within the plant.
• Provide communication on safety through articles, newsletters, signage, etc.
• Participate in new equipment and process to ensure safety assessments are done and safety issues are addressed.
• Maintain existing MSDS system and ensure new materials and products have appropriate MSDS sheets and training.
• Perform analysis and recommend improvements to equipment and processes to improve safety and prevent accidents.
• Responsible for coordinating purchasing of safety equipment, to include PPE.
• Coordinate with Corporate Safety Manager on health and safety issues.
• Maintain EH&S records, to include all industrial hygiene and noise testing.
• Schedule and coordinate regular hazard assessments and safety audits working with the Safety Team.
• Coordinate emergency response and first aid system.

Skills You Bring

• Degree in Safety or equivalent 2-4 years’ experience as a safety professional or a combination of both.
• Must have experience managing environmental health and safety programs in a manufacturing or heavy industrial plant environment.
• OSHA 30 highly preferred.
• Experience with DOT and Driver Safety programs preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The successful candidate will be a hands-on, "on the plant floor" person who has demonstrated experience leading effective behavioral change in the environmental and safety arena and driving results in a manufacturing environment.
• Must work well in a cross-functional, dynamic, collaborative environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• A team player.
• Must be able to train other employees effectively.
• Experience working with quality systems is preferred.
