Job summary

American Axle & Manufacturing in Gallipolis, OH, seeks a Health and Safety Environmental Lead to oversee the facility's HSE programs, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations and corporate policies.

You will lead incident investigations, manage permits and audits, and develop training to maintain certification under ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

The role requires a degree in a safety-related field and 2–5 years in manufacturing, with OSHA 30 and union experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate in Industrial Safety/Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Strong knowledge of OHSAS / ISO standards and applicable legislation.
• Lead Auditor certification in ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Union environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the health, safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with local and state/provincial regulations, internal and corporate EHS policies.
• Collaborate with the plant team to develop and implement actions that improve health, safety and environmental performance.
• Conduct monthly plant workplace inspections to identify key issues and communicate findings.
• Maintain records of health and safety inspections, investigations, corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead accident investigations and root cause analysis on all injuries, property and environmental incidents.
• Create and conduct HSE training to all employees in accordance with applicable legislation and corporate requirements.
• Oversee permits, hazardous waste management and liaison with regulatory agencies.
