Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety professional to assist in executing and improving its program portfolio. The role focuses on eliminating injuries, preventing property loss, and minimizing environmental impact while ensuring employee awareness and training compliance.

The position is located in Milpitas, CA, with 20–40 hours per week and travel to Redwood City and Vancouver, WA as needed.

Qualifications

  • 0–1 years in related fields such as industrial, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing or R&D labs is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining occupational health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards through safety controls.
  • Perform hazard assessments and audits with business leaders; recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with reporting incidents and near misses.
  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support emergency action plans.
  • Utilize Velocity EHS for data collection (incidents, hazards, inspections, SDS).
  • Assist in procedure writing for ISO14001 and ISO45001.

Job description

Position Summary

Assists in executing and facilitating Advanced Energy’s environmental health and safety program portfolio with the goal of eliminating injuries and incidents, preventing property loss, and minimizing impact to human health and the environment. Responsible for ensuring employee awareness of programs, training, and overall compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining occupational health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Ensure that Advanced Energy complies with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, and standards through implementation of safety control measures.
  • Perform and review hazard assessments including job hazard assessments and audits with business leaders and prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
  • Assist business partners with reporting incidents and near misses.
  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Steward and facilitate emergency action plans.
  • Utilize EHS data management system (Velocity EHS) for collecting incident, hazard, inspection, chemical SDS and sustainability data.
  • Support procedure writing for Corporate EHS management system (ISO14001 and ISO45001).
Work Environment
  • Location: Milpitas, CA
  • Hours: 20–40 hours per week (flexible)
  • Time divided between office, engineering labs, and service/repair environments.
  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, and talking for extended periods and lifting up to 35 pounds on occasion. Work in all AE environments.
  • Regular travel primarily to Redwood City, CA and potential trip to Vancouver, Washington site.

Experience
  • 0–1 years in related fields such as industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing or R&D engineering labs desired.
Education
  • Preferred: recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Physical Sciences, or other engineering. Current students in these programs also eligible.
Compensation

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. The starting pay range for this role is $25 to $40 per hour, depending on experience and education level.
