Position Summary

Assists in executing and facilitating Advanced Energy’s environmental health and safety program portfolio with the goal of eliminating injuries and incidents, preventing property loss, and minimizing impact to human health and the environment. Responsible for ensuring employee awareness of programs, training, and overall compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Ensure that Advanced Energy complies with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, and standards through implementation of safety control measures.
  • Perform and review hazard assessments including job hazard assessments and audits with business leaders and prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
  • Assist business partners with reporting incidents and near misses.
  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Steward and facilitate emergency action plans.
  • Utilize EHS data management system (Velocity EHS) for collecting incident, hazard, inspection, chemical SDS and sustainability data.
  • Support procedure writing for Corporate EHS management system (ISO14001 and ISO45001).
Work Environment
  • Location: Milpitas, CA
  • Hours: Hours are flexible; 20-40 hours per week
  • Time is divided between office, engineering labs, and service/repair environments.
  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, and talking for extended periods of time and lifting up to 35 pounds on occasion. Will be required to work in all environments at AE.
  • Regular travel required primarily to Redwood City, CA and potential travel to our Vancouver, Washington site.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge/proficiency in the following areas:
    • Safety culture development
    • Effective communication (written and verbal)
    • Electrical safety and NFPA 70E
    • Emergency response
    • Hazard identification and assessments
    • Incident investigations
    • Detail-oriented
    • Self-directed with strong organizational and time management skills
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence without formal authority
    • Ability to locate, interpret, and implement regulatory requirements
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of applications and other common computer tools
Experience
  • 0 - 1 years’ experience in related fields such as industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing or R&D engineering labs desired.
Education
  • Preferred: recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical engineering, physical sciences or other engineering.
  • Or current student enrolled in one of the above degree seeking programs.
Compensation

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $25 to $40 per hour (depending on experience & education level).
