Job summary

Kautex is seeking an EHS Industrial Engineer to drive safety improvements in the foundry through engineered controls and structured CI initiatives. The role collaborates with Health & Safety, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to identify hazards, co-lead investigations, and design sustainable safety solutions.

Required is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, strong safety knowledge, and experience delivering CI projects in production settings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Safety, or related).
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety principles, hazard identification, and risk reduction.
  • Ability to execute engineering or continuous improvement projects in a production setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and machine safety standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with salaried and UAW-represented teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards through engineering controls, equipment changes, and facility improvements.
  • Lead improvements in machine guarding, ergonomics, handling risks, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure equipment safety-by-design and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations to implement safety projects.
  • Co-lead incident investigations and apply root cause analysis and CI methods.
  • Track corrective actions and verify effectiveness of implemented solutions.
