Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks an experienced EHS Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of safety programs across our manufacturing sites in Massachusetts. You will serve as the site Safety Officer, conducting audits, risk assessments, and training to build a proactive safety culture while ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with engineering to support facility expansions, equipment installations, and safety design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years experience driving safety in a design and manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA and local regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the Safety Officer and lead the EHS Committee, driving cross functional involvement and a strong behavioral safety culture.
• Support facility improvements/expansions and equipment installations by conducting EHS design reviews and safety assessments in conjunction with the engineering teams.
• Conduct regular site safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Work closely with Johnson Controls corporate safety group to support company‑wide policies, compliance, and initiatives.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation to prevent future occurrences.
• Manage hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal processes, including waste characterization and documentation.
• Deliver EHS training programs to employees and contractors to ensure a strong culture of safety and compliance.
