Job summary

SMP Automotive Systems Alabama Inc. in the Tuscaloosa area is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs across our manufacturing operations.

You will work with employees, supervision, and maintenance to ensure regulatory compliance, promote workplace safety, and support sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 2+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, OSHA 30, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field.
• Two or more years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and applicable environmental requirements.
• Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve site EHS programs, policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADEM, and federal/state/local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate environmental activities related to air, water, hazardous waste, pollution prevention, and sustainability.
• Lead investigations of workplace injuries, near misses, environmental incidents, and other EHS events.
• Conduct EHS inspections, audits, assessments, and follow-up activities.
• Prepare and maintain environmental, regulatory, and internal EHS reports and documentation.
• Develop and coordinate EHS training programs for employees.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance during equipment installations and process changes to ensure EHS requirements.
