Job summary

Solventum seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Intern in Brookings, SD, to support site EHS compliance and continuous improvement for a 10-12 week assignment. Internships are temporary and structured to provide hands-on experience in managing change, ergonomics, LOTO, and safety training.

The role supports documentation, audits, and cross-functional EHS teamwork, with a focus on practical learning and exposure to real-world safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Supports Brookings EHS on compliance (MOC, ergonomics, LOTO, machine guarding).
• Assists in documentation to ensure OSHA/EHS compliance.
• Leads EHS projects and delivers training to plant personnel.
• Participates in site processes to improve the EHS program.
• Supports design/installation of new or modified equipment.

An internship is a temporary position within Solventum. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment. This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

• Provides support for the Brookings EHS Department on all aspects of the site's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance efforts, including Management of Change (MOC), ergonomics, powered industrial vehicles, process safety, fall protection, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and emergency response coordination.
• Supports documentation on plant systems to ensure compliance with Solventum requirements, including OSHA regulations, EHS Management Systems, and other applicable programs.
• Assists in achieving departmental and plant Lean Six Sigma targets by leading EHS projects, delivering required EHS training to plant personnel, representing the site during audits by staff groups, and coordinating/training EHS topics.
• Participates in site processes (assessments, engagement) to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of the site's EHS program.
• Provides EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:

• Experience with environmental health and safety course work and internship experience considered

Work location

Onsite: Brookings South Dakota

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
