Job summary

Textron Aviation is seeking an experienced EHS engineering leader to guide and instruct engineers involved in EHS programs, policies and procedures within multiple manufacturing areas. You will interact with employees across the Textron Aviation manufacturing environment to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Health Services Management, Medical Administration or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of relative experience required.
• Leadership experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and schedules team activities and assignments.
• Coordinates teams’ activities with other groups/organizations/departments.
• Oversee assignments involving implementation of general safety and environmental policies and procedures to be followed in compliance with corporate policies and local, state, and federal EPA and OSHA rules and regulations.
• Assists with and executes in implementation efforts involving EHS policies and procedures; ensures timely and effective support to Textron Aviation entities.
• Develops and executes Textron Aviation Safety Management System.
• Assists with incident investigations and provides recommendations to prevent recurrences.
• Provides safety training and coaching to employees; develops training materials.

JOB SUMMARY:Guide and instruct Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) engineers whom are involved in EHS programs, policies and procedures, while interacting with employees in multiple areas of manufacturing of Textron Aviation aircraft.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans, organizes and schedules team activities and assignments
• Coordinates teams’ activities with other groups/organizations/departments
• Oversee assignments involving implementation of general safety and environmental policies and procedures to be followed in compliance with corporate policies and local, state, and federal EPA and OSHA rules and regulations
• Personally assists/executes in implementation efforts involving EH&S policies and procedures. and as difficult problems are encountered. Ensures timely and effective customer support to all Textron Aviation entities
• Improves the effectiveness of the team by instructing, developing and creating the required environment for motivation, innovation and job development of employees, assess individual employee results in relation to job assignments and takes or recommends appropriate actions
• Performs necessary research to maintain and exercise a working knowledge of new environmental and safety processes
• Prepares periodic activity and status reports and performs special assignments as required
• Develops a collaborative environment for execution of safety kaizens, gemba walks, and safety improvement processes
• Development and execution of Textron Aviation Safety Management System
• Assist with and performs incident investigations on injuries or illnesses and provide recommendations to prevent recurrences, using the root cause analysis method
• Be aware of basic Ergonomic principles and be willing to lead preliminary ergonomic Injury investigations and perform Ergonomic reviews by understanding the employee’s tasks and risks
• Provide positive coaching to employees including developing and conducting effective safety training
• Join in the development and compiling of training manuals and other training aids, and obtain equipment, training videos, and other materials for instructional purposes
• Perform other related duties as required by supervisor

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree required in:
  • Environmental Health and Safety
  • Health Services Management
  • Medical Administration
  • Other related fields
• Minimum 5 years of relative experience required
• Leadership experience is preferred

QUALIFICATONS:

• Prior experience in Environmental Health & Safety Engineering role or function preferred
• Experience with EHS in a manufacturing environment is preferred
