Job summary

Anord Mardix is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to develop, implement, and monitor safety programs ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The role focuses on accident prevention, health, safety training, and industrial hygiene across facilities.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environment or Health Sciences with 3–7 years of EH&S experience; Master’s degree preferred and leadership experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with departments on design and use of equipment for safety programs.
  • Examines plans to ensure safety precautions are included.
  • Tours plant to inspect safety equipment and facilities for compliance.
  • Defines safety clothing and devices and installs safety devices on machinery.
  • Conducts or coordinates safety training for emergencies and policies.
  • Investigates industrial accidents and prepares reports.
  • Conducts air quality tests for harmful gases and vapors.
  • Identifies hazards and recommends corrective actions.
  • Interfaces with vendors and engineers on safety matters.
  • Compiles and submits safety reports and administers workers comp.

Environment Health & Safety Engineer

Reporting to the EH&S Manager, the EHS Engineer is in charge of developing, implementing, and monitoring company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Accident‑free, healthy work, profitability.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs.
  • Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to define if all safety precautions have been included.
  • Tours plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Define requirements for safety clothing and devices, and designs, builds, and installs or directs installation of safety devices on machinery.
  • Conducts or coordinates safety training to educate workers about emergency acknowledge, safety policies, laws and practices.
  • Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports.
  • Conducts air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapors.
  • In charge of identifying health and safety hazards and recommending corrective actions.
  • Serves as internal consultant to business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene and fire and chemical safety matters.
  • Audits business units.
  • Interfaces with outside vendors, contractors and engineers regarding facilities, chemicals and other workplace health and safety related matters.
  • Compiles and submits safety reports.
  • Administers workers compensation, OSHA 300 log and return to work program.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team,
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environment or Health Sciences or equivalent experience in EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3-7 years of experience in EH&S or related position.
  • Managing people / Direct reports experience preferred.
