Job summary

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator oversees EHS programs across Akron Children's Hospital facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania, based primarily in Akron with occasional travel to other locations.

This role focuses on environmental compliance, education, training, and collaboration to ensure safe and efficient program implementation. The overall goal is to manage environmental permitting, applicable reporting, training, and programs in a safe, effective, and organized manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, industrial hygiene, chemistry, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations (federal, state, local) and company standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, and EHS training to maintain a safe work environment.
• Manage hazardous waste programs and spill response, including vendor oversight and regulatory reporting.
• Investigate workplace and environmental compliance issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Support emergency preparedness and hazard communication programs, ensuring readiness for incidents.
• Review projects and facility changes for EHS and OSHA compliance, including environmental impact assessments.
• Maintain required certifications, permits, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) systems, ensuring documentation accuracy.
• Provide technical EHS guidance to staff and contractors, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.
