Job summary

Socket.dev seeks an experienced EHS professional in Salt Lake City to coordinate and enforce health and safety programs, promote safety awareness, and draft training materials. You will train staff on protocols and preventive measures, test and monitor in assigned units, and conduct risk assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and ANSI guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (OSH) preferred; current enrollment in a related program may be required.
  • Regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI knowledge.
  • Experience in manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, familiarity with Powered Industrial Trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as EHS point of contact and supports assigned unit per regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with measuring, testing, and tabulating EHS data; reports results and documents findings.
  • Monitors processes and updates SOPs/work instructions to meet EHS requirements.
  • Analyzes leading/lagging indicators and employee feedback to identify risks and trends.
  • Coordinates with employees at all levels to address safety considerations.

Description

SUMMARY

Coordinates and enforces employee health and safety programs and promotes safety awareness to

minimize work-related injuries. Drafts and updates safety training materials and trains staff on safety

protocols and preventative measures. Sets up and performs tests and monitoring in assigned

business units and runs risk assessments on workspaces and presents findings. Works

collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization. Understands federal, state, and local

safety regulations and ensures that the company is in compliance with Occupational Safety and

Health guidelines.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Acts as EHS point of contact and provides support to assigned Business Unit; completes work according to industry standard and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with measuring, testing, and tabulating data related to EHS metrics and records, and reports on results, and documents findings; completes compliance documents for review and submittal.
  • Monitors operational processes and employee activities; recommends revisions and updates to SOPs and work instructions in compliance with EHS requirements.
  • Analyzes data in the form of leading indicators, lagging indicators, and employee feedback and concerns to identify trends and developing risks; presents recommendations.
  • Coordinates with employees at all levels to help identify and address safety considerations.
  • Implements EHS requirements; monitors training and audit/inspection records.
  • Conducts inspections and identifies hazards and reports EHS violations; provides direction and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards.
  • Assists in the investigation of workplace injuries and incidents; performs root cause analysis on accidents and work hazards and proposes corrective actions.
  • Assists with the continuous improvement and development of EHS documentation, including procedures, forms, and checklists.
  • Assists in the development, assessment and improvement of employee health and safety training; conducts employee training.
  • Assists in the development of EHS Toolbox Talks topics based on current incident and audit trends.
Food Safety

Responsible and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues; and

empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work. If this position is vacant for

any significant period of time the obligation for completion of all food safety and quality related tasks

will become the responsibility of the direct manager or a qualified designee.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Environmental

Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or other related fields is preferred. Current enrollment in a degree

program and/or Associate degree in a related field is required. Detailed knowledge of relevant

regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI. Experience in manufacturing, warehouse

and logistics operational areas and familiarity with Powered Industrial Trucks is a plus.

Skills/Knowledge:

Applies basic skills and procedures appropriate for the position within assigned functional

area. Acquires job skills to perform routine tasks

Computer Skills:

The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal

software programs), with advanced presentation skills and the ability to create

and maintain spreadsheets. Experience formulating Excel spreadsheets from basic to complex

formulas.
